When I was a child, I always thought how boring it would be to be a housewife. Doing dishes, laundry, cooking and childcare day in and day out seemed monotonous. While I didn't enjoy doing homework, I would have much rather, at the time, finish up my homework, then maybe beg mom to help me bake cookies or something (but not do the dishes afterward).
Now I have a house with loads of work to do, and a four page paper due tomorrow that needs some desperate finishing, and all I want to do is take care of my home. The little cherub who hated housework grow up to love it.
I just think it's super funny how things like that change. While I do look forward to leaving the house on a daily basis, just to get out, I love being able to take care of it. I think the main difference, when your a child doing your chores, is that it's not your own personal domain. You are doing things just as your parents would have you do. It's the way they like it. You may agree with somethings that your parents do, but a lot of times children have their own ideas of how things should be organized.
Now, as an freshly married adult, I have the ability to arrange my home the way I like. Yes, my husband and I do have to come to some agreement, but they aren't hard to reach.
So, I'm going to spent the next couple of hours finishing this paper, because it does need finishing, then I'm going to reward myself by finding a complicated baking recipe to work on, and do the dishes.
